Middle schoolers came to join Robotics a-CAD-emy for a week during summer of 2025! We introduced CAD in an engaging way through designing and creating your own CAD projects using Onshape. At the end of the week, everybody had the opportunity to 3D print their final projects. This camp is led by Highlander Robotics members in the Piedmont High School engineering lab. The student leads used their experience on an FRC team to give students a deeper understanding of advanced robotics and the engineering design process.

Our team has been working with Oakland Unified School District to build & adapt toys for children with severe mobility issues. Members CAD, wire, and fabricate items, practicing their skills while providing service to our community.
December 2024
8033 hosted our first winter fundraiser during the month of December to build community and help raise money for our team! We held an auction for our attendees, with items such as tickets to a behind the scenes tour of Lawrence Livermore Labs. Attendees enjoyed a night of building gingerbread houses and listening in on presentations from our team captains.

Our team members create content for workshops directed towards Daisies all the way up to Girl Scouts. Our student-created presentations and material help the Girl Scouts earn STEM and robotics-related badges, allowing them to fulfill the need for these badges.

In partnership with Piedmont Makers, we actively support our local FIRST community. Our team has staffed 3 FLL and FTC local tournaments and scrimmages just this season. For the FTC qualifier alone, our team volunteered a collective 100 hours.

8033 plays a valuable mentoring role for our local FLL and FTC teams. Our students have mentored new FTC members, introducing them to FIRST and teaching them how to code and design. We have also mentored experienced teams like Juice, who made it to final division alliance captains at the world championship in 2023.

At the Piedmont Makers annual maker faire, members of our team gave demonstrations of our robot and helped visiting kids make 3D printed projects.
09/2024
Our team hosted a booth at the Piedmont Harvest Festival, helping young kids to build catapults and teaching visiting families about FIRST and what we do.
