Meet The Team

Captain / Mechanical
Alex W.
I'm Alex Ware, a junior at Piedmont High School and the mechanical lead for 2022's Shooter. Coming from a middle school FTC team, I joined the team in it's founding year. As the team grows bigger each year, this experience has taught me a lot about designing mechanisms and how to help lead and manage a team. It's been fun to see the success of the team and I look forward to where this team will go.

Subteam
Angie F.
Hi! I am Angie Foo and am a current Senior on the mechanical subteam. This is my fifth year doing robotics (mainly on an FTC team). I have been learning so much throughout this season, especially around design and execution. I am excited to expand my knowledge more over the course of the season and what is to come.

Mechanical
Beck P.
Hi, I'm Beck P, a sophomore at Piedmont High, and this is my first year on FRC. I'm on the mechanical subteam, and I've learned a lot by helping design and build the climber this season.

Mechanical
Caetano D.
Hi! I am Caetano, a freshman on the mechanical subteam. It's my first year on FRC and second year doing robotics. I have learned how to use many of our tools and about the design and construction process that goes into the robot. I am really looking forward to continuing to learn during the rest of this season!

software
Charlie C.
I'm Charlie C, one of our team's Charlies. I am a senior on the software subteam and I have been on FTC teams for four years but this is my first real FRC season. I like programming (but not in Java) and I am the team's only Linux user, but when I'm not programming I play Destiny 2, Satisfactory, and From Software games.

Former Captain - retiring member
Charlie L.
I'm Charlie L., a senior at Piedmont High school and the team's captain. In 2019 after 3 years of FTC, I co-founded Highlander Robotics. I help the manage each mechanical subteam, supervise integration, design the robots superstructure, and jump in whenever I can be of use. I have learned a lot skills from 3 years of FRC from using tools and desiging parts to leading and managing subteams. I am really proud of the success our team has had inside and outside of our community, and I am exited for another fun season.

Outreach Lead
Charlotte R.
Hi, I'm Charlotte R. and I am a freshman on the Outreach subteam. have been doing robotics for five years. I have done many FIRST competitions inculding FLL, FTC, and now FRC. I am super excited for this Rapid React season and I help with our website and social media on team 8033.

Mechanical
Chloe K.
Hello, I'm Chloe K and I am a freshman on the mechanical subteam. Throughout my first year on an FRC team, I have learned a lot about what goes into designing and building a robot. I hope to not only learn more about building a robot but also about innovation and teamwork.

Mechanical
Clio S.
Hello! I'm Clio, I'm on the mechanical subteam and this is my first year doing robotics. I have learned a lot about all the different tools and components that go into building a robot. I am excited to learn and gain more experience.

Subteam
Helena Y.
Hello, I'm Helena Y., a junior on the mechanical subteam. As someone with no previous experience in robotics, my first year in FRC has taught me many new skills. I hope to gain more experience and learn more about robotics over the course of the season.

Mechanical
Jack M.
I am Jack M., a senior planning on majoring in computer science. I have been on the Highlanders for two years now, and before that I was on an FTC team known as the Cyberscots. I enjoy robotics, and though I am on the mechanical team, I also enjoy programming, especially in python and java. I also enjoy "capture the flag" hacking activities, which I do non-competitively. I also love video games, especially Destiny 2 and Warframe.

Software
Jasper Z.
I'm Jasper, a junior at Piedmont High school. I joined the team almost 2 years ago and have been on the software team ever since. Outside of robotics I enjoy hiking and being in the outdoors, as well as cooking.

Mechanical Lead
Jasper T.
I'm Jasper T, a junior at Piedmont High School and the lead of the subteam designing this year's climber. I joined the team as a freshman in its founding year, and it's been super fun to help build all three robots as a mechanical team member. The experience has certainly tought me a lot about design, fabrication, and the iterative process. Outside of Robotics I enjoy, hiking, running, and playing guitar in a band.

Software
Kasper J.
Hello, I'm Kasper J, a freshman on the software subteam. This is my first year in FRC, but I have done robotics for 3 years. Robotics has helped me become a better programmer, and it has taught me a variety of life skills, such as teamwork. Outside of robotics, I like to play sport and solve Rubik's cubes.

Software Lead
Lewy S.
Hi, I'm Lewy, a freshman and the software lead on the team. This is my first year on the team but I have been in robotics for 4 years in various programs, including being the team lead of the Piedmont Pioneers FTC team. I also enjoy learning about the hardware side of the robot such as CAD and electrical work. In my free time I play a variety of videogames including Kerbal Space Program, Factorio, Hollow Knight, and more recently Noita.

Software
Thomas W.
Hi, I'm Thomas W, a Sophomore at Piedmont High. This is the first year I've been on FRC and I'm part of the Software Team. I've enjoyed seeing the process of how all the subteams work together to bring our robot to life. In school, I'm taking AP Comp Sci A this year and really enjoy it; outside of school, I'm on the cross-country and track team, I ski with the Sugarbowl Freeride team, and I'm working on my Eagle with BSA.

Mechanical
Tiago D.
Hello, I'm Tiago, a freshman working for the mechanical team. This is my first year with the Highlanders, but I was on an FTC team last year. In my first year in FRC, I'm extremely excited to learn mroe and compete this year in the RAPID REACT game!

Software
Valentina P.
I'm Vale, a sophomore at Piedmont High, and I'm so happy to be a part of the software subteam on Piedmont Robotics. I recently joined the team at the start of the spring semester and since then, have gained expirience and confidence with computer programming. In my freetime, I enjoy painting, I'm on multiple sports teams and love spending time with friends. Really looking forward to continuing to grow as an individual within Robotics!

Mechanical Lead
Vaughn K.
Hey! I'm Vaughn, a mechanical sub team member and freshman at Piedmont High School. 2022 is my first year on the Highlanders, but I have been doing FIRST robotics for several years. Although my main interest is engineering, I also often snowboard and I enjoy spending time with friends. I look forward to growing my engineering skills and bringing the team past new milestones in my next four years on the team.
